:wow: A Daily Deviation!!!! I can't express how much this means to me. And so many suggestions! I want to thank all of you! :thanks:

And apologies from those who can't have a webcam, and can't test it now. Still, you can download it, and try it at a later date.

Do you like the Portal games, and have always wanted to own a Sentry TURRET???
Now it's possible and it's totally free with this interactive motion tracking version.
You only need a computer and a webcam. :D

How to use?
1. Allow your webcam usage to the program.
2. Step back to give some space to the turret.
3. Hide somewhere or move, the turret will react to your moves.
4. It'll keep your room from intruders, until you turn it off.
5. Enjoy!

If you like it, you can download the fullscreen desktop app version: For PC or MAC

This is a fan work, all sounds and original designs are the property of VALVE SOFTWARE.

If you like it try out my other interactive killing machnes! :chainsaw:

Daily Deviation

Given 2013-01-16
*r4di0fly3r has made a clever bit of work concerning the Portal games with an Interactive Portal Turret that responds to your webcam like a motion sensor. Also suggested by *EnjiNight, ~MetalFluffyNinja and `Kneeling-Glory ( Suggested by Zendar13 and Featured by SqueakyToybox )
This... is beyond awesome. As a moderately die-hard Portal fan, I have to say that I've honestly never seen anything quite like this before. Though I don't know much about the workings of this masterful piece of magic myself, I do realize that it required a very good knowledge of programming as well as a great artistic sense, and as such you executed it perfectly. The only reason I gave only four stars on "Originality" is because the turret itself as well as the sound files I am assuming you used were both created by Valve. To me, of course, the fact that it is Portal-inspired only makes it that much better, but I still can't give full points for a completely original concept. All in all, incredible work, good sir. You have much talent, and I look forward to hopefully seeing similar work in the future.

I actually never played Portal all the way through, and as such I am not as big a fan as others here may be, but that does not take away the awesomeness of the app. For me, what really did it is the accuracy of the targeting. I found myself running around my room trying to figure out where I could and couldn't hide. Also, the laser targeting is a really nice touch (and yes, I know they were already in the game, but I am referring to its accuracy and the fact that it shows that it actually knows where you are, and not just that it detects some random movement.) I may not be a programmer, but I can tell that took a lot of prior knowledge and skill. It makes me wonder what other technology can be adapted from video games.

I wish this could be a screensaver !
Me too, but I've no idea how to achieve it, because of the usage of the webcam...

I had quite a bit of fun with this actually. Hiding behind cover and trying to reason with the turret only gets you so far though.
That so cool on my webcam:webcam:  Good jobClap  can make more like this please :please:
Thank you so much! I will! :work:
Your welcome =D
